Analogue Desk Co. is a one-person workshop in London. We make calm tech: physical instruments that show the numbers you care about, without pulling you into a screen.

The Maker

I'm Simon Pickles. I studied furniture and product design, then spent ten years designing and building exhibits for science museums around the world, like the Science Museum in London, the Children's Museum of Indianapolis, Science Centre Singapore. Exhibits that had to survive constant public handling and communicate an idea in seconds.

After that came fourteen years in software. Useful work, but eventually I missed making things you can hold. IDX came out of wanting a way to keep an eye on a number I care about without reaching for a phone.

The Build

IDX is designed and hand-assembled in the UK. Every unit is built, calibrated and finished by hand at my bench. I work in small batches to keep the quality where I want it, which means runs are limited and occasionally sold out.

Honest Hardware

I believe in ownership. IDX is open architecture: documentation and developer guides are available for anyone who wants to customise the firmware or connect their own data sources. No cloud subscriptions, no locked ecosystems, no forced updates.

What you buy is yours to keep, modify, and build on.
