One instrument is all you need

Configure IDX in three minutes via WiFi to display the metric that matters most to your day. No coding. No technical knowledge required.

  • Local Weather: Outside temperature for your location, via a live weather feed.
  • Air Quality: The AQI for your city, from a live public feed.
  • Home Assistant: Track a smart home metric like energy import/export.
  • Market Pulse: Quietly track your chosen stock or crypto ticker.
  • Deep Work: A physical Pomodoro countdown to anchor your focus sessions.
  • Octopus Agile: Track dynamic energy pricing from this UK supplier.

How it Works

  • Plug IDX into a USB power source.
  • Use your phone or laptop to join its temporary WiFi access point and configure it via your browser.
  • Select a data source and your preferred ambient lighting effect, and you're done.

The gauge has optional, swappable face-inserts for different scales and units. For market data like stocks or crypto, use -5% to +5%. For absolute data like Air Quality, the dial maps across a defined range. Templates to make your own face-inserts are provided.

Under the Hood

Use the onboard software with built-in data feeds, or easily connect IDX to Home Assistant to show things like room temperature and energy usage as a glanceable needle movement. 

I believe in open hardware. Full documentation and pinouts supplied for those looking to customise the device. ESPHome configuration is also provided.

Availability

There's no mass production here. I work in batches to keep the quality where I want it, which means runs are small and occasionally sold out. You can ask to be notified when back in stock.
